Note on Husband: Jeremiah Clark DRAKE - shared note

LDS Ancestral File submitter lists a Clark Drake born in Missouri about 1857--a child of John and Susannah. This may be the same as Jeremiah. Susannah had a nephew named Jeremiah Clark (Husband of her niece, Mary Ann Storts). Jeremiah and Mary Ann moved to Adair County Missouri from Perry County, Ohio, at about the same time. Perhaps Jeremiah's middle name was Clark. On the 1860 Adair County Census, this child was listed as Jeremiah, born 1857. On the 1900 Crawford County, Wisconsin Census, there is a Clark Drake, born 1857 in Missouri, living in the same Enumeration District as John and Susannah, his parents, and Reuben, his brother. It is reasonable to assume that Jeremiah and Clark are the same person.

Mary Ann Storts was much older than Susannah. She was the daughter of John Jacob Storts/Stotts' oldest son, Daniel. Susannah was one of John Jacob's younger daughters, a child of his second marriage, which occurred when he was in his late 60's. Therefore, Mary Ann was the niece of Susannah, rather than the aunt, although the relationship probably seemed the opposite, as she and Jeremiah would be the older generation helping the younger folks get started.
