She was born in a tent because of her father's job as a railroad foreman. Married in Forestburg, Texas at her father and mother's home on 14 Oct. 1906. She rode her little mare at the age of 7 to 10 years old to town for supplies. She learned how to cook for family when she was 6 years old. She was oldest of 13 children.
