"History of Piscataway Twp 1666-1976" p 63 says "Robert Drake 1580-1667 of Devonshire, England settled as early as 1635 on Piscataqua River, being a man of eminent piety. His son, Francis Drake 1615-1687, upon his father's death moved in 1668 with his wife Mary (Walker) & 3 sons to Piscataway."

Text From Source: in 1652 Francis , Mary (his wife) & probably 1 child were living in Strawberry Bank on western side of Piscataqua River (the stream that now divides New Hampshire from Maine). Strawberry Bank was changed to Portsmouth about 1653. On 17 Apr 1654, the town assigned to Francis a house lot on Noble's Island (now northern part of Portsmouth) & in July 1655 he obtained another house & lot S of Great Bay. |
