Harry was the youngest of nine children and the only one not born in New Jersey. The Harry Herbert family moved from Montrose to Toronto about 1910 when he became Canadian Manager for the 1900 Washing Machine Company. After this company was sold he entered the real estate and insurance business, remaining in Toronto.
