Julius Jasper Singletary, 89, of North Charleston, SC, husband of Bobbie Singletary, died Saturday August 16, 2008 in a local hospital. He was born on February 16, 1919 in Charleston, SC the son of John A. and Lena Bates Singletary. He met his wife of 56 years, Bobbie, in Saluda, SC. Julius was a machine operator for 40 years with Raybestos Manhatten. After retiring he enjoyed his time at home drinking coffee, doing upholstery work and helping his wife. He was a member of North Charleston United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Singletary of North Charleston, SC; two daughters, Judy Smith of North Charleston, SC and Terri Fender and husband John of Summerville, SC; brother-in-law, Willie O. Rushton and his wife Marie, of North Charleston, SC; four grandchildren, Greg Smith and wife Susie of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Dana Smith of Goose Creek, SC; Lena Fender and Marshall Fender, both of Summerville, SC; five great-grandchildren, Max, Emma, Elise, Eddie, Halley and a large extended family. He was predeceased in death by two brothers, Harry Singletary and George Singletary; and one sister, Irene Rogers. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, North Charleston, SC.
