Note on Husband: James GILES - shared note

He was a member of the Society of the Cincinnatir. After the

Revolutionary War the Marquis de Lafayette presented him with his sword.

It is now in the State Museum of Trenton, New Jersey.

Will:

To that grandson of mine who shall be admitted a member of the Society of

the Cincinatti in my place. I give and bequeath unto him my Cincinatti

Diploma, Bald Eagle of Gold.

General James Giles was a General in Washington's Army. On General

Marquis Lafayette's return to our county, he presented as a gift to his

friend, General Giles, his magnificent sword. It can be seen in the

museum in Morristown, NJ.
