John and Margaret came to Jamesville, Wisc. in 1853, He was a Tinner and he had to go into Ill to find a job so in ended up in Chicago and Centerville Ill. where he worked as a tin-smith. He was hard of hearing

As maggie was not to well most of the time, John had hired a Housekeeper also maggie took care of her Mother a lot and a lot times was gone for a long time. Till her mother finially got to come and live with Maggie and John. Well the old saying will the Cats away and the mouse will play will John did with the Mae...But Maggie had never had children of her own they had the girl stay with them till after it was born and they took the girl baby as their own. her name was Mary E. Huntress..It was half right..

In there home on Milton Ave. Janesville Wisc. John ran a Book store It was a beautiful home, It is still standing in Janesville.

 

BURNS MAY PROVE FATAL TO JOHN H. HUNTRESS (Sept. 11, 1914)

Aged Resident who has been suffering for two Month is is not expected to live.

the condition of Joohn H. Huntress, 315 east Milwaukee Street, the aged man who was severly burned in the fire which destroyed his barn on July 11 is reported critical today his advance age and the depth of his wounds, physicians were skeptical as to his recovery from the first, althought he has shown remarkable vitality during the past two months.

 

JOHN H. HUNTRESS DIES OF INJURIES.

Suffering for two months from Burn expired at five o'clock yesterday afternoon at his home

The death of John H. Huntress occured yesterday afternoon at firve o'clock after the deceased had suffered for two months from burns sustained while attempting to save a horse from his barn during a fire on the eveing of July eleventh.

Mr. Huntress had battled wonderfully during his illness, in hope that cadry him past the danger point. His attempts to rally were in vain and he passed to a world beyond only after a hard struggle accompanied by constant suffering.

He was born in Boston Mass. in 1847 and would have been 67 years of age had he lived until the 22nd of this month. Forty-seven years ago, he came to this city .. whesrsse he engaged in the grocery business for many years . He was married November 25th 1883 to Margaret Carman of this city. A loyal membesr of the First Baptist church, he was highly respected as a friend and citizen. He leaves beside his wife, on daughter Mrs. H.A. Wetrick, who lives at home and who was only recently married.

The funeral services will be held at the home 15 East Milwaukee Street, Sunday afternoo at one-thirty o'clock and will be private. The remains will be taken to Milton, for interment.

MRS. MARGARET HUNTRESS

Death very suddenly called Mrs. Margaret Huntress yesterday at her home, 315 Milwaukee Street, after a brief illness. She became sick Christmas Afternoon, Mrs. Huntress was born in New York State in 1854 and came to Milton in childhood and resided there until hesr marriage to Mr. Huntress who preceded herin death four ago. Silnce than she made her home in Janesville. She leaves to mourn her loss besides a host of friends, a daughter, Mrs H. Weirick of 315 East Milwaukee, and a sister, Mrs J.I. Janes of Atlanta, Georigia. The funeral services will be held at one o'clock Tueday from the home, the Rev. R. G. Pierson conducting the services interment will be made in the Milton Cemetery
