Text From Source: Widow Sarah Hedges had a daughter Sarah Hedges, who died 7 Dec
1820, age 63 yrs., unm. James Dunham lived at Littell's Bridge in Morris
County, and owned a farm there of upwards of 60 acres. He had a son James, who
died 5 May 1790 age 25 years, unm., and a daughter, Hannah, who d. 9 July 1817,
age 54, unm. (Littel, p. 146-7). The will of Hannah.Dunham [d/o James Dunham]
of Chatham Twsp. Morris Co., made 7 July 1817, proved 12 July 1817 mentions
"sister Sarah Hedges, all real and personal estate to dispose of as she thinks
proper." Executors -- said sister, Sarah, and friend Joseph Tompkins. (N.J.
Arch., 42:139.) NOTE: Littel says "he [James] had brothers John, David and
Joseph, and sisters Abby and Polly. They were children of two mothers. . . .
John Dunham was a half-brother of James, he m. Keziah Marsh." It may be that
James Dunham was a half-brother of Joseph, John and David Dunham, but he had a
different
father. Perhaps James was s/o Esther by a previous husband and was adopted by
David. This is pure conjecture, but note that Esther (Crane) Dunham names her
son James, but he is not mentioned in the will of her husband, David Dunham.
