Former Resident of Masonville Dies at Home in Cedar Rapids Monday. Is Buried Here.

"With great regret Manchester friends of Francis M. Drake, better known as Frank Drake, former Coffin's Grove township farmer, learned of his death, which occurred on Monday, July 15, 1935, at the family home in Cedar Rapids. Mr. Drake was 79 years of age and was widely known in this county, so long his home. Funeral services were held at the Beatty Chapel in Cedar Rapids yesterday afternoon, the Rev. Russell F. Judson officiating, and the body was brought here after the service for burial in Oakland Cemetery.

Mr. Drake was born in Adair County, MO, in 1856, and when a young man came to this county with his parents, who engaged in farming. For several years, until 1919, he made his home in Manchester, but in that year removed to Cedar Rapids. In 1887 he was married to Alice Ketterman of Urbana, with whom he lived happily. Surviving him are his widow and two children--Donald of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Elsie Sherrer of this city. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. Mary Ferguson, of Kirksville, MO., and ten grandchildren. It will be remembered that a son of Mr. and Mrs. Drake, Nial, who was a member of the 352nd infantry, 88th division, in the World War, died in France in 1918."

Francis is buried in the Oakland Cemetery--Row 8, Plot 33.
