Note on Husband: Enoch DRAKE - shared note

Enoch is buried at Christ Cemetery--now known as Pleasant Mound Cemetery--in Marietta, Crawford, Wisconsin.

Enoch's older brother, John Mellick Drake, born in 1827, gave Pennsylvania as his birthplace in the 1860 County Census for Adair County, Missouri. His younger brother, Ralph, gave Pennsylvania as his birthplace in the 1860 & 1870 Federal Censuses for Perry County, Ohio. Therefore, it seems that Enoch was also born in Pennsylvania.

Enoch was in Wisconsin by the 1860 Census. He was in Perry County, Ohio with his father until after his marriage to Mary Lyons at that locale. They then moved to Jay County, Indiana, where Enoch leased a log cabin and 80 acres from his brother-in-law, Thomas Lyons. (from Biographical record of Jay and Blackford Counties, Indiana, pg 311-312) --Leaving Indiana, he apparently went to Wisconsin. His brother, Reuben was in Vernon County, Wisconsin by 1855.
